Midwest Transport Inc., a well-known trucking company, has stopped working and layoffs of about 222 workers in Tampa and Jacksonville. The closing of several locations happened because the company was under pressure from people they owed money to, which made them stop their business.

The company’s choice to close had a big effect on the workers, leaving them without jobs. The Midwest Transport Inc. layoffs came after the Tampa location at 4,710 E. Seventh Ave. and the Jacksonville location at 3,370 Old Kings Road were shut down.

Reasons for the company closing down include:

  • Creditor pressure: A big lender, whose name is not known, told the company to stop working because they didn’t pay back a loan.
  • Failed funding efforts: Midwest Transport Inc. tried to get the money it needed to keep going, but couldn’t.

The job cuts in Florida and the company closing will probably be. That means people lose their jobs at three other places around the country. Also at the main office in Illinois. While we don’t know exactly how many jobs are lost at each place. The state’s database says 111 jobs were affected at each of the Florida locations.
