At Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport on Saturday, a near-disaster had been avoided. Air Traffic Control (ATC) cleared an IndiGo aircraft that had landed on runway 27 from Indore while an Air India aircraft was still in the process of taking off from the same runway.
DGCA Acts: De-rostering the ATC personnel involved in the event was the first quick action taken by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). The reason for this significant protocol violation is being investigated.
Viral footage: Social media users have been sharing the footage of the incident a lot since it was taken. Online users have been questioning the ATC’s decision to permit the landing due to the two aircraft’s proximity.

This incident shows how important ATC is to maintaining the security of airlines. To avoid situations like this in the future, a comprehensive inquiry is necessary.
