DEK: India added another silver in women’s trap shooting while Neeraj Chauhan defeated South Korea’s Kim Je Deok 6-4 in men’s recurve archery.
India’s morning at the Asian Games on September 29 produced a medal, a major archery result and progress in squash, while rain continued to reshape the cricket competition.
By Tuesday morning, India had 46 medals: four gold, 21 silver and 21 bronze, placing it 12th in the standings.
The biggest individual result came in recurve archery, where Chauhan eliminated Kim Je Deok, the second seed, after a five-set contest. In shooting, Neeru Dhanda, Manisha Keer and Aashima Ahlawat combined for silver in women’s trap, while Dhanda also advanced to the individual final.

NEERAJ CHAUHAN DEFEATS KIM JE DEOK 6-4
The official World Archery results show Chauhan entered the knockout draw as the 18th seed after scoring 676 points in qualification. Kim was seeded second with 693. Chauhan then won their elimination match 6-4.

The match was decided over five sets. Chauhan won the first, Kim took the third, and the second and fourth were tied. Chauhan closed the contest by taking the fifth set 29-27.
Kim arrived with three Olympic gold medals accumulated across Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024. His Olympic titles came in team and mixed-team competition. The Asian Games result therefore records an individual knockout defeat for a highly decorated Korean archer, rather than a loss by a three-time individual Olympic champion.
Chauhan’s result sends him into the next knockout stage. The official bracket records his victory and places him among the quarter-finalists.
INDIA WINS SILVER IN WOMEN’S TRAP
Neeru Dhanda, Manisha Keer and Aashima Ahlawat finished second in the women’s trap team event with 328 points. China won gold with 346, while Kuwait took bronze with 325.
Dhanda also topped the individual qualification with 118 out of 125 and advanced to the eight-shooter final. Her 2026 season already includes an ISSF World Cup victory in Lonato, Italy, where she scored 121 in qualification and 27 in the final.
The three Indian shooters brought different levels of international experience into the team. ISSF records show Keer won silver in the junior women’s trap event at the 2018 World Championships. Ahlawat finished fourth at the 2024 Junior World Championships and won bronze at the 2025 Asian Championships.
The shooting result also has useful competitive context. The ISSF world ranking dated September 1 placed Dhanda 13th in women’s trap. Her Lonato victory came in July, when she led qualification with 121 targets and then won the final. Keer and Ahlawat were already established international competitors, with ISSF records documenting junior and senior championship results before Aichi-Nagoya. That background places India’s team silver within a broader progression into these Games for the athletes.

Archery
Dhiraj Bommadevara, the top qualifier in men’s recurve with 698 points, also progressed after defeating Chinese Taipei’s Cheng Hsiang-Hui 6-2. Bommadevara entered the knockout bracket as the first seed, ahead of Kim.
Squash
India’s women’s team defeated Iran 3-0 in its final group-stage match and advanced to the quarter-finals. Tanvi Khanna won after Narges Soltani retired while trailing 5-11, 0-3. Anahat Singh defeated Fereshteh Eghtedari 11-5, 11-4, 11-7, while Joshna Chinappa beat Najmeh 11-1, 11-3, 11-9.
Shooting
Shapath Bharadwaj advanced to the men’s trap final after a reported shoot-off, according to the live competition update. The same update said he entered the decisive stage after a qualification score of 117. Those details should be checked against the official result sheet before publication.
Cricket
Rain continued to affect the men’s tournament. The first two quarter-finals, Pakistan versus Hong Kong and India versus Afghanistan, were abandoned without a ball being bowled, with the higher-ranked teams advancing. The Day 11 live update later reported that all four men’s quarter-finals had been washed out and listed the semi-finals for October 1.
