Prime Minister Narendra Modi has strongly condemned crimes against women, labeling them as an “unpardonable sin” and demanding severe consequences for the perpetrators. This statement comes amidst nationwide protests over the brutal rape and murder of a 31-year-old postgraduate trainee doctor at Kolkata’s RG Kar Hospital.
Speaking at the ‘Lakhpati Didi Sammelan’ in Maharashtra’s Jalgaon, Modi highlighted the importance of not only empowering women but also ensuring their safety. He addressed political parties and state governments, asserting that “Crime against women is an unpardonable sin. Those guilty should not be spared, and any form of negligence by institutions. Such as hospitals, schools, or the police should be strictly addressed.”
The Prime Minister’s comments come as the nation reels from the shocking case of the trainee doctor. Whose body was discovered with severe injuries at RG Kar Hospital on August 9. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has taken charge of the investigation, with the primary suspect. Sanjoy Roy is currently in judicial custody until September 6.
During his Independence Day speech from the Red Fort this year. Modi urged state governments to take crimes against women seriously and ensure prompt punishment for the culprits.
