Kaziranga, Assam – Prime Minister Narendra Modi embarked on a wildlife adventure on Saturday, enjoying both elephant and jeep safaris in Assam’s Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve. This marked his first visit to the UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The Prime Minister spent two immersive hours exploring the park’s rich biodiversity. He rode an elephant named Pradyumna through the Mihimukh area, situated within the park’s central Kohora range. News reports suggested he even offered sugarcane treats to a few elephants, including Lakhimai, Pradyumna, and Phoolmai.

Beyond encountering the park’s majestic one-horned rhinoceroses, for which Kaziranga is renowned, Modi’s visit highlighted the park’s diverse wildlife. He later tweeted about his experience, acknowledging the abundance of elephants and numerous other species that thrive within the park.

The Prime Minister’s visit also included interactions with inspiring figures dedicated to conservation. He met with members of the “Van Durga,” a team of women forest guards who play a crucial role in protecting Kaziranga’s wildlife. He also spoke with elephant mahouts and park officials.

This visit comes ahead of the reopening of Kaziranga’s jungle safaris for the general public on March 10th. The Prime Minister’s exploration of the park serves as a timely reminder of the importance of wildlife conservation and the beauty of Kaziranga’s natural landscape.
