FIITJEE, a prominent coaching institute for engineering and medical entrance exams, has abruptly several centres closures across North India, leaving thousands of students and parents in a state of uncertainty. The closures, reportedly triggered by mass teacher resignations due to unpaid salaries and attractive offers from competing institutions, have significantly impacted student preparations for crucial exams like JEE Mains.
Affected centres include locations in Delhi, Noida, Ghaziabad, Meerut, Lucknow, Varanasi, Patna, and Bhopal. Students and parents are expressing outrage over the sudden closures, citing a lack of prior notice and a refusal to issue refunds for prepaid fees.
Parents have staged protests outside closed Centres, demanding immediate refunds and a resolution to the situation. The closures have not only disrupted students’ academic schedules but also caused significant financial and emotional distress for families who have invested heavily in their children’s education at FIITJEE.
FIITJEE has stated that the closures of several centres were not their decision, but rather a result of the sudden departure of managing partners and staff. They claim this created an unexpected crisis. FIITJEE emphasizes that these disruptions are temporary and that they are actively working to restore normal operations. They also mentioned pursuing legal action against what they describe as malicious prosecution.
The situation highlights concerns regarding the quality and reliability of private coaching institutions and the need for stronger regulations to protect the interests of students and their families.
