Guwahati, September 24, 2024: All schools in Assam Kamrup Metropolitan District will remain closed for four days due to the extreme heat. The decision was taken after reports of students experiencing health issues, including fainting.

- Temperature: Guwahati recorded a maximum temperature of 37.9 degrees Celsius on Sunday, 5.9 degrees above average.
The District Elementary Education Officer (DEEO) issued a formal order on a Monday stating that numerous schools had received reports of students suffering from health problems due to the extreme heat. To safeguard the students’ well-being, the decision to close schools was made.
