B-Girl India, or India Sardjoe wins the first-ever Olympic-Breakdancing Match. The 18-year-old Dutch sensation defeated refugee team member B-Girl Talash in an exciting opening match at the Paris 2024 Olympics.
Hailing from The Hague, Netherlands, India’s journey to the Olympic podium has been nothing short of an inspiration. Unlike many of her peers who started with dance, India’s athletic prowess initially shone on the football field. However, a chance encounter with hip-hop sparked a different passion. Intrigued by the energy and dynamism of breakdancing, she quickly abandoned hip-hop in favor of the more physically demanding dance form.
India’s talent was evident from a young age. At just 10, she nailed the Dutch national championship in the Under-12 category. Her meteoric rise continued as she captured the Dutch, European, and world titles in a remarkable six-month span in 2022.
With her Paris Olympic gold, India has not only upgraded the profile of breaking but has also become a role model for aspiring dancers worldwide. Her journey from a football-loving kid to an Olympic champion is a testament to her dedication, hard work, and unwavering passion for breaking.
