PM Modi Remembers Shaheed Bhagat Singh on His Birth Anniversary

Prime Minister Narendra Modi remembered Shaheed Bhagat Singh on his birth anniversary. Paying tribute to the legendary freedom fighter on social media, PM Modi lauded his huge contribution towards India’s fight for independence.

Shaheed Bhagat Singh, a name synonymous with Indian nationalism, still inspires generations. His unwavering dedication to India’s freedom struggle and his ultimate sacrifice at the tender age of 23 have etched his name in the annals of history.

Bhagat Singh was born on September 28, 1907, in Banga of Lahore (now in Pakistan). He was highly moved by the nationalist feelings that prevailed during those days. He joined the Hindustan Republican Association (HRA) and later turned into a junior member of the trio Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev, and Rajguru.

  • Shaheed Bhagat Singh was involved in several revolutionary acts. Including the assassination of British police superintendent John Saunders and the bombing of the Central Legislative Assembly in Delhi. These acts were aimed at highlighting British atrocities and galvanizing the Indian masses.
  • Under the Lahore Conspiracy Case arrested com Nagar, Bhagat Singh, or his comrades. Even when they were threatened with a death sentence, they made an unrelenting demand for freedom in India.

Shaheed Bhagat Singh, together with two other revolutionaries Rajguru and Sukhdev was hanged on 23 March 1931. This news led to large-scale protests and contributed to the Indian independence movement.
