PM Modi Lays Foundation for Rs 29,000 Crore Infrastructure Projects in Maharashtra

PM Narendra Modi recently visited Mumbai to lay the foundation stone for several infrastructure projects worth over Rs 29,400 crore.  This move is set to transform Maharashtra into an economic powerhouse and cement Mumbai’s status as the financial capital of India. 

  • The Prime Minister laid the foundation stone for the 11.8 km Thane-Borivali tunnel. Project worth Rs 16,600 crore, reducing travel time between the two cities by an hour. 
  • He also launched the 6.5 km Goregaon Mulund Link Road (GMLR). Project worth over Rs 6,300 crore, providing direct connectivity between the Western and Eastern Express Highways. 
  • To boost the logistics sector, PM Modi laid the foundation for the GatiShakti multi-modal cargo terminal in Navi Mumbai, spread over 32,600 sq m. This will create new employment opportunities and handle cement, among other commodities. 
  • The Prime Minister also dedicated new platforms at Lokmanya Tilak Terminus and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus, Increasing passenger capacity.

PM Modi expressed his vision to transform Maharashtra into an “economic powerhouse of the world” and make Mumbai the “fintech capital of the world”.  He highlighted the state’s potential in tourism, agriculture, and the finance sector. To promote the role of infrastructure development in employment generation.

Prime Minister also launched the Mukhyamantri Yuva Karya Prashikshan Yojana. A Rs 5,600 crore internship program aimed at addressing youth unemployment through skill enhancement and industry exposure. 

The push by PM Modi on this strategic infrastructure projects. This will boost connectivity, logistics, and employment in Maharashtra, positioning the state as a key driver of India’s economic growth.
