“Prateek Yadav death news triggered political reactions across Uttar Pradesh after the 38-year-old businessman died in Lucknow on Wednesday morning.”
Prateek Yadav, the younger son of late Samajwadi Party patriarch Mulayam Singh Yadav and half-brother of Akhilesh Yadav, died in Lucknow early Wednesday morning after being rushed to Civil Hospital. He was 38!
Hospital officials told local media he was brought in around 5:55 AM after his condition suddenly worsened at home. Doctors declared him dead shortly after arrival. The exact cause of death has not yet been confirmed, and a post-mortem examination is underway. By afternoon, political leaders from both the Samajwadi Party and BJP had publicly reacted to the news.
Akhilesh Yadav posted on X:
“श्री प्रतीक यादव जी का निधन, अत्यंत दुःखद! ईश्वर दिवंगत आत्मा को शांति प्रदान करे।”
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath called the death “extremely heartbreaking” and extended condolences to the family.

Fitness businessman stayed away from active politics
Unlike most members of the Yadav family, Prateek remained largely outside electoral politics. He studied at the University of Leeds in the UK and later operated a Lucknow-based fitness venture known as “The Fitness Planet.”
He married Aparna Yadav in 2011. Aparna contested the 2017 Uttar Pradesh Assembly election from Lucknow Cantt on a Samajwadi Party ticket before joining the BJP in 2022. In 2024, she was appointed vice-chairperson of the Uttar Pradesh State Women’s Commission.
Reports from local outlets said Prateek had been dealing with business related stress in recent months. Akhilesh Yadav later remarked that “losses in business can break a person internally.”

Earlier Instagram posts draw attention online
Within hours of the death announcement, older Instagram posts allegedly written by Prateek began circulating again on social media platforms.
In those posts, he accused Aparna Yadav of damaging family relationships and wrote: “I am going to divorce this selfish woman.” Some posts also referred to severe mental stress.
No official agency has linked those statements to his death. Police and hospital authorities have not publicly indicated foul play, suicide, or poisoning. Some reports showed that Prateek may have suffered from a serious lung-related illness, though no medical confirmation has been released yet.
As evening approached in Lucknow, supporters and political workers continued gathering outside the family residence while officials awaited the post-mortem report.
