Importance of Dev Uthani Ekadashi

The most critical aspect of this festival is the belief that on this day, Lord Vishnu—the supreme deity in Vaishnavism—awakens from his sleep. This awakening marks the start of new life, prosperity, and auspicious activities. As Lord Vishnu is considered the god of marriage, his awakening also ushers in the wedding season. Many Hindus believe that marriages performed after Devuthani Ekadashi are particularly auspicious.

Dev Uthani Ekadashi holds deep spiritual significance. Devotees observe fasts, perform puja, and engage in spiritual practices to seek blessings from Lord Vishnu. It is believed that fasting on this day purifies the soul and fosters a deeper connection with the divine. Just as nature revives itself after a long slumber, Devuthani Ekadashi symbolizes new beginnings and fresh starts. It is a time for self-reflection, renewal of thoughts, and setting new intentions.
