Paris, France: Indian shooter Swapnil Kusale won a bronze medal in the men’s 50m rifle 3p positions final at the Paris 2024 Olympics on Thursday. This historic win is India’s first Olympic medal in this event and third medal overall in rifle shooting.
Swapnil Kusale’s journey to the podium was exciting. Despite a poor start, he showed fantastic resilience and skill to climb the ranks. After challenging kneeling positions, he excelled in prone and standing and secured his place in the top three.
The final contest was intense, with Kusale finishing with a score of 451.4. China’s Liu Yukun won the gold medal with a world record score of 463.6, while Ukraine’s Serhiy Kulysh took the silver medal with 461.3 points.
This bronze medal has been added to India’s growing medal tally at the Paris Olympics, in which all three medals have come from shooting. Manu Bhaker’s bronze in the women’s 10m air pistol and the mixed team bronze with Sarabjot Singh have already made the country proud.
Swapnil Kusale bronze in 50m rifle 3P achievement is a testament to India’s rising stature in shooting and inspires hope for future successes in the sport.
