NDA Elected Narendra Modi as Leader, the Process of Government Formation is Going On

The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) has unanimously elected Prime Minister Narendra Modi as its leader, beginning the government formation process for the third time. The meeting held at the PM’s official residence was attended by 21 NDA leaders from various parties including Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Janata Dal (United), Telugu Desam Party (TDP), Shiv Sena, and others.

The resolution passed at the meeting praised Mr. Modi. His efforts in nation-building, the welfare of the poor, and development. The NDA fought and won the 2024 Lok Sabha elections unitedly under his leadership. The signatories expressed their pride in being partners in Mr. Modi’s efforts and unanimously chose him as their leader.

Meeting attended by BJP president J.P. Nadda, BJP leaders Amit Shah and Rajnath Singh, along with prominent NDA leaders and Janata Dal (United) chief Nitish Kumar, TDP supremo N. Chandrababu Naidu, Shiv Sena chief Eknath Shinde and allies participated. 

NDA Government Formation Process Underway

The NDA parliamentary party meeting is to be held on June 7 to approve the proposal. After this, Shri Modi will present a formal claim to President Draupadi Murmu to form the government.

The distribution of Ministries and the shape of the new coalition government will require some mediation. Meetings planned between NDA leaders and alliance partners to work out the details. The swearing-in ceremony for Mr. Modi’s third term will likely take place over the weekend. June 8 or 9 is the preferred date.

The alliance is strong, it includes all partners, and talks are on to finalize the sharing of ministerial berths. Mr Naidu, whose TDP won 28 Lok Sabha seats, has reiterated his commitment to the NDA and said he is “firmly” behind the alliance.

The President has dissolved the 17th Lok Sabha. Mr Modi has submitted his resignation along with his Council of Ministers to President Murmu. The President has accepted the resignation.
