Delhi Metro, a lifeline for millions of commuters in the National Capital Region, has been under fire due to the rise in crime incidents. In response to this, the Delhi Police have now stationed undercover officers at 32 metro stations that are identified as hotspots.
These stations including Kashmere Gate, Rajiv Chowk, Seelampur, Anand Vihar, and Kalkaji have emerged as far more crime-prone compared to most other metro stations, analysis has shown. To identify such places, the police did a detailed study and formed an action plan to secure such spots properly.
As the passenger load on the DelhiMetro has increased in recent months, these plainclothes officers are being deployed. With more people choosing to take the metro instead of having their own private vehicles to travel. The chances for criminal activity have also increased. They are intended to be invisible while present and respond rationally quickly in covering an incident.

In order to make out the vulnerable metro stations. Police took support of data of crime records from 190 delhi metro stations collected by them. They achieve this by keeping a score of how well companies do to make sure. They know where to allocate resources so, that the largest security issues are handled.
Vijay Singh, Joint Commissioner of Police (Transport Range), said they have to ensure the security and safety of commuters. ‘Our intention is to prevent criminal activity whilst at the same time responding to incidents quickly by being everywhere and yet nowhere.
