Avoid These Things During Kharna Puja –
Don’t Touch Puja Items Without Washing Your Hands and Feet
All the things used in Kharna Puja, like the special food called prasad, should be very clean and safe. To make sure they stay that way, you need to wash your hands and feet really well before you make the prasad or touch any of the puja items.
Avoid Salty Foods
From the day of Kharna, it is forbidden to eat or even touch anything salty. On the first day of Chhath, during Nahai Khay, a special dish called pumpkin-rice-chana dal prasad is prepared. This is eaten by the person who is fasting and all the family members. But after that, no salty foods can be eaten or touched.
Don’t Eat Non-Vegetarian Food
Even if you’re not fasting for Chhath Puja, but if someone in your family is fasting, you shouldn’t eat heavy or unhealthy food on the day of Kharna Puja or any other day. During this four-day fast, you should only eat light and pure food.
Don’t Wear Old Clothes
You should only wear new and clean clothes on the day of Kharna Puja or when taking part in Chhath Puja activities.
