Eighteen-year-old Bagisha Tiwari, a resident of Kota, Rajasthan on Wednesday. She allegedly jumped to her death from the ninth floor of an apartment building. The incident occurred just a day after the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET-UG) results were declared.
Bagisha Tiwari, who hailed from Reva district in Madhya Pradesh, resided in Kota with her mother and brother while pursuing her medical dream. She had been preparing for the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET-UG) at a coaching institute in Kota. Her brother, a class 12 student, is also preparing for another entrance exam, JEE.
Police are investigating the reason behind this suspected suicide. After the incident, Tiwari was taken to a private hospital but she died within an hour. Her family has been informed, and the body is awaiting post-mortem after her father arrives.
This incident marks the tenth suspected suicide by a student in Kota since the beginning of 2024. The city, known as a major coaching hub for entrance exams, witnessed a disturbingly high number of student suicides last year as well, with 26 reported cases.
This tragedy highlights students’ immense pressure to prepare for competitive exams like NEET-UG. It is important to address the issue of mental health and provide adequate support to these young minds.
NEET Aspirant commits Suicide by Jumping In Front of Train in Rajasthan
In another case, an NEET aspirant in Dausa, Rajasthan, died by suicide. The young man, identified as Ajit Meena, jumped in front of a train on Tuesday evening, just after the NEET results were declared.
Ajit’s family reported him missing after he left home, informing them he was going to an e-mitra center. A few hours later, authorities found a body on the railway tracks near the Agra-Jaipur highway, confirmed to be Ajit.
Ajit’s suicide is linked to the NEET results. This was his third attempt at the exam, and he did not qualify this year either.
