“The Twisha Sharma death case took a major turn after a Bhopal court denied anticipatory bail to advocate Samarth Singh.“
A Bhopal court has denied anticipatory bail to advocate Samarth Singh in the death case of his wife, 33 year old Twisha Sharma, while granting relief to his mother, retired judge Giribala Singh, in a case that has rapidly escalated into one of the Madhya Pradesh’s most closely watched investigations.
Twisha was found dead on May 12 at the family’s residence in Katara Hills, Bhopal, less than five months after her marriage. Police registered a case linked to alleged dowry harassment and abetment to suicide following complaints from her family. Additional Sessions Judge Pallavi Dwivedi rejected Samarth Singh’s bail plea, according to court reports published Monday.

“I am trapped”
Investigators are now examining digital chats, CCTV footage and forensic evidence. Media reports said Twisha had sent messages shortly before her death stating, “I am trapped”, and “You don’t get trapped”. Her family alleges sustained physical and mental abuse inside the household. Relatives also claimed she had become isolated after the marriage and repeatedly complained of pressure from her in-laws.
The husband’s family has denied the allegations. Giribala Singh publicly claimed Twisha had mental health and substance-use problems, comments that triggered criticism online and accusations of victim-blaming. Police sources told local media that CCTV footage showed Twisha heading upstairs before the incident. The full footage has not been released publicly.

SIT probe, missing husband and mounting pressure
The case intensified after reports emerged that Samarth Singh was unavailable during the investigation. Police reportedly announced a ₹10,000 reward for information about him and moved to cancel his passport. An SIT has now been formed to examine forensic reports, phone records, financial transactions and alleged dowry-related evidence.
Twisha, originally from Noida, had reportedly met Samarth Singh through a dating app months before their wedding. Several reports described her as a former Miss Pune participant and MBA graduate. The case has drawn attention far beyond Bhopal because of the accused family’s legal background and the speed with which the marriage collapsed. Investigators have not publicly released the final post-mortem findings, and several claims made by both families remain unverified.
