Michael Box Office Collections are nearing the ₹50 crore mark in India after less than two weeks in theatres, giving Hollywood one of its most unexpected box office stories of 2026. Trade figures published on Wednesday showed the film at roughly ₹48.5 crore to ₹49.26 crore after 12–13 days of release. The film’s second weekend remained unusually steady for a music-driven Hollywood title in India, where superhero franchises and action spectacles usually dominate multiplex business.
The Jaafar Jackson-led film collected ₹31.25 crore in its first week before adding another ₹13.5 crore across the second weekend and early weekdays. Second Tuesday collections alone were estimated near ₹2 crore.
“The film is probably headed for ₹75 crore or so full run”, Pinkvilla reported, calling the performance “an amazing result for a music-based Hollywood film in India.”

Strong Holds Despite Mixed Reviews
Internationally, the film’s performance has been even bigger.
According to Box Office Mojo and multiple US trade reports, Michael has crossed $435 million worldwide, including nearly $189 million from domestic North American markets. The film has now outpaced the early theatrical pace of several recent music biopics.
Critics, however, remain divided.
Rotten Tomatoes scores showed audience approval near 97%, while critic ratings remained below 40% this week. Several reviews praised Jaafar Jackson’s performance and stage recreations but criticized the film for largely avoiding the later abuse allegations surrounding Michael Jackson’s life.
The Guardian reported the production underwent costly rewrites and reshoots, reportedly worth around $15 million, during post-production.
Rare Hollywood Success in India
The India performance is drawing attention across the trade because the film is not tied to a major franchise or comic-book property.
Previously, Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour earned roughly ₹13 crore in India, while Bohemian Rhapsody collected around ₹7 crore during its 2018 run.
Trade analysts described Michael as “one of the rare non-franchise Hollywood successes in India” in recent years.
The film is expected to cross the ₹50 crore milestone officially by Thursday.
