Objective of the Scheme
The main aim is to:
- Help students from the backward sections continue their education.
- Support meritorious students in Classes 9 and 11.
- Reduce school dropouts due to financial problems.
- Improve literacy and education outcomes across India.
Who Can Apply? (Eligibility Criteria)
- Must be a citizen of India.
- Belong to the OBC, EBC, or DNT category.
- Must have passed Class 8 or 10 (for Class 9 or 11 admission).
- Family income should be ₹2.5 lakh or less per year.
Age Criteria
- For Class 9: Born between 1st April 2010 and 31st March 2016.
- For Class 11: Born between 1st April 2004 and 31st March 2008.
- Both boys and girls can apply.

School Selection Norms
- 3997 schools for Class 9 and 2596 schools for Class 11 are selected in Tamil Nadu.
- Schools must have 100% pass results in the previous year for eligibility.
- Around 1547 students from Tamil Nadu will receive the scholarship this year.
