What is Zombie Drug and how is it made?
Xylazine which is referred to in various slang such as tranq, tranq dope, and “Zombie drug” is a deadly, toxic substance. Consumption of this drug leads a person to extreme sleepiness, waking up for hours, and depression. Xylazine is a central nervous system depressant that acts as a sedative and a painkiller. It has been approved by the US FDA for use in animals only.
Usage of this drug is not new as it caused of death of more than 2500 people in New York in 2024. But what strange thing happening in Sierra Leone is that people are mixing these toxins with the powder of human bones. This causes some serious concerns and addicts are following the disturbing practices. As mentioned before they go to the graveyard dig the grave and grab bones as it is the main ingredient in that mixture.
Impact of Zombie Drugs on Human
- High doses of the drug lead to extreme sleepiness, and depression as we can see in videos on X as people are unable to stand.
- Also in some cases, it causes the raw wound on the skin which is spreading with the exposure.
- It also causes amnesia which leads to low heart rate, low breathing, and blood pressure goes extremely low.
- If a person takes a high dose of this drug then it will lead to death.
- Another major concern with this drug is that it is highly addictive which makes people quickly adapting the drug and do disturbing things for consumption.
- Kush Zombie drug addicts lost their senses, they act like they have no brain and just want the human bone powder anyhow.
How Kush Turning People into Zombie
- Xylazine acts as a tranquilizer, with high doses causing complete knockouts in addicts.
- Tranq is zombifying people’s bodies,” 28-year-old Sam told Sky News. “Until nine months ago, I never had wounds. Now, there are holes in my legs and feet.
- To increase the effects, manufacturers of “zombie drugs” add cocaine, heroin, fentanyl, and even human bones.
- Kush addicts do not have any sense of what they are doing after consuming the drug. They kind of look like zombies.
- Additives of the drug make them do anything for the human bone powder which makes the situation worse as they can kill someone for the same.
Wrapup: What’s the Way Ahead?
Well, this a strange situation as in the past drug addicts never used human bodies for their consumption. The government must take strong actions to avoid a horrifying situation. First thing first this drug – Xylazine is illegal and only for animal cures. So the government has to make sure this is not available easily. Also needs to find a cure for the side effects of this drug. Sierra Leonne President has taken some strict actions but there are many things where they are lacking. Such as this country has only one rehabilitation center and that is not enough. Things are in control now but in the future, it can be worse so the government has to take some action for it.
