Delhi Capitals defeated Lucknow Super Giants by 19 runs in a high-scoring IPL 2024 encounter, keeping their playoff hopes alive. Both teams need other results in their favor to make it to the top four.
DC posted a challenging 208 runs on the board thanks to half-centuries from Abhishek Porel (58) and Tristan Stubbs (57). LSG fought bravely with the help of Nicholas Pooran’s 61 and Arshad Khan’s unbeaten 58 but failed in the end.
Openers Porel and Shai Hope (38) gave a fast start to DC by scoring 51 runs in the powerplay. However, the LSG spinners made the breakthrough in the middle overs. Stubbs fended off a late attack and scored 57 runs from 25 balls to take DC to a strong total.
LSG, while chasing the target, had a very poor start and Ishant Sharma took three top-order wickets in his first three overs. A counter-attacking innings from Pooran (61) kept LSG in the hunt before Arshad Khan (58) threatened. However, DC bowlers maintained their composure in the death overs to seal a crucial win.
