Akshaya Tritiya, also called Akha Teej, is a very auspicious Hindu festival celebrated on the Shukla Paksha Tritiya in Vaishakha month. It’s especially significant if it falls on a Wednesday with Rohini Nakshatra. The name “Akshaya” signifies “never diminishing,” implying that any good deeds performed on this day yield lasting benefits.
This day is associated with good fortune and success, making it popular for purchasing gold, believed to bring continuous prosperity. Lord Vishnu, the preserver, receives dedication on Akshaya Tritiya. Hindu scriptures state that the Treta Yuga began on this day. Notably, it often coincides with Parashurama Jayanti, though the latter can sometimes be a day earlier based on lunar timings.
Vedic astrology regards Akshaya Tritiya as inherently auspicious, free from negative influences. Along with Yugadi and Vijay Dashami, it’s one of the three lunar days that doesn’t require a specific Muhurta (auspicious time) to commence any positive activity.
