The Indian Institute of Management Calcutta (IIM Calcutta) has released the official notification for the Common Admission Test (CAT) 2024. This is your chance to secure a coveted seat in one of India’s premier management programs.

- CAT Registration Opens: August 1, 2024 (10:00 AM IST)
- Registration Closes: September 13, 2024 (3:00 PM IST)
- Exam Date: November 24, 2024 (Three sessions)
- Admit Card Download: November 5-24, 2024
- Expected Result Declaration: Second Week of January 2025
What is CAT?
CAT is a computer-based aptitude test conducted by IIMs for admission to their postgraduate and doctoral programs in management.
Over 1,200 business schools in India accept CAT scores for admission to their MBA and PGDM programs. These institutions offer diverse specializations, learning environments, and career paths.
Last year, over 3.28 lakh candidates registered for the exam, with approximately 2.88 lakh appearing for it.
Who can Apply?
Candidates with a Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 50% marks (or equivalent CGPA) are eligible to apply. However, relaxation in marks is available for SC, ST, and PwD category candidates (minimum 45% marks).
Registration Process
Registration for CAT 2024 will be conducted online at the official IIM CAT website (iimcat.ac.in). Candidates will need to create an account and provide details like their academic qualifications, work experience (if any), and preferred test city choices.
Registration Fees
- General Category & OBC: Rs. 2,500
- SC, ST, and PwD Category: Rs. 1,250
Selection Process
After the exam, shortlisted candidates will be called for further rounds of selection by individual IIMs. These may include group discussions, written assessments, and personal interviews.
Beyond IIMs
Several non-IIM institutions also accept CAT scores for their management programs. A list of all such institutions is available on the CAT website.
