IMD Forecasts Heatwave Warning for These States

Recently, IMD predicted a heat wave in May. According to the Meteorological Department, the northwest and eastern regions of the country could experience a double heat wave this month.

According to IMD, there used to be a three-day heat wave every May in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, and Rajasthan. East Madhya Pradesh, Gangetic West Bengal, Bihar, and some parts of South Peninsular India are also included in this list. IMD Director General M Mohapatra said that an average of three heatwave days is usually expected in May. However, in 2024, the number of heatwave days may be higher.

Rainfall in These States

Along with the heat wave, the Meteorological Department has also forecast more rain in some states. IMD has predicted heavy rainfall in Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura today. And below-normal rainfall in many parts of Odisha, North Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Southern West Bengal, Andhra Pradesh, and Kerala.
