Google layoffs have become the New Normal. According to reports, the company fired members of its Python team on Monday to bring in cheaper labor. However, the layoffs don’t stop here. One Tech Crunch article revealed that Tech Company fired employees from Python, Dart, Flutter, and other teams. The company stated that these layoffs were primarily due to reorganization.
A Google spokesperson, Alex García-Kummert, told Tech Crunch, “As we’ve said, we’re responsibly investing in our company’s biggest priorities and the significant opportunities ahead. This statement doesn’t clarify the exact number of employees laid off. However, it is clear from his words that the action has been taken to enhance productivity.
Google spokesperson further added, “To best position us for these opportunities, throughout the second half of 2023 and into 2024, a number of our teams made changes to become more efficient and work better, remove layers, and align their resources to their biggest product priorities,”
The employees have been affected a lot by these layoffs. In the first quarter of 2024, the IT company laid off hundreds of employees. The CEO of Google, Sundar Pichai, had alerted staff members about such a situation. He told the employees that in contrast to 2023, layoffs would occur gradually in 2024.
