When is Rama Ekadashi 2024?
According to the Vedic calendar, Ekadashi Tithi of Krishna Paksha of Kartik month is starting on 27 October at 05:23 am and this date will end on 28 October at 07:50 am. In such a situation, the Rama Ekadashi fast will be observed on 28 October 2024, Monday. At the same time, the fast will be broken between 06:31 am to 08:44 am on 29 October.
What is the importance of the Rama Ekadashi fast?
It is told in the scriptures that worshiping Lord Vishnu and Mother Lakshmi on the day of Rama Ekadashi fast brings happiness, prosperity, and opulence. Also, by doing puja and charity on this special day, one attains Akshaya Punya and after death one attains a place at the feet of Shri Hari. By worshipping Lord Vishnu and Mother Lakshmi in the month of Kartik, all the sufferings and sins are removed.
Things You Must Avoid Doing on Rama Ekadashi
It is mentioned in the scriptures that some special rules must be followed on the day of the Rama Ekadashi fast. Rice should not be consumed on this day even by mistake. It is said that by doing this, one gets birth in the womb of the creature living in the next life.
It is forbidden to pluck Tulsi leaves or twigs on the day of Rama Ekadashi. Water should not be poured on the Tulsi plant on this day. But a lamp must be lit near the plant along with worship in the morning and evening.
Vegetarian food should also be consumed on the day of Rama Ekadashi. Consumption of meat and alcohol is prohibited on this day. At the same time, there should not be a feeling of hatred towards anyone in the mind on this occasion.
