The Hindu New Year, also known as Vikram Samvat 2081, it commenced on April 9, 2024. This day is celebrated as Pratipada of Chaitra Shukla Paksha, the beginning of the Hindu New Year. 

The belief behind this is that Lord Brahma started the creation of the universe on this day. People celebrate this day by wishing each other a happy new year, exchanging gifts, and preparing special meals. 

The Hindu New Year is celebrated with different names in different regions, such as Gudi Padwa in Maharashtra, Ugadi in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, Baisakhi in Punjab, and Navreh in Kashmir.
