Akshaya Navami 2024, also called Amla Navami, is celebrated on the ninth day of the Kartik month in the Hindu calendar. This day is two days before Dev Uthani Ekadashi and is very important because it marks the start of Satya Yuga. Because of this, Akshaya Navami is also known as Satya Yugadi. The word “Akshaya” means “never-ending,” which means that any good deeds or prayers done on this day are thought to bring benefits forever, not just in this life but also in future lives.
Akshaya Navami is as special as Akshaya Tritiya, which marks the start of Treta Yuga. While Akshaya Tritiya is celebrated as Treta Yugadi, Akshaya Navami is honored as Satya Yugadi.
One of the most well-known traditions linked to Akshaya Navami is the Parikrama, which involves walking around the holy twin towns of Mathura and Vrindavan. On this special day, many devotees make this journey to gain endless spiritual blessings.
Also, the day is called Amla Navami because people traditionally worship the Amla tree, which is considered very lucky. In West Bengal, the same day is celebrated as Jagaddhatri Puja, honoring Goddess Jagaddhatri, who is seen as the protector and giver of strength.
