The syllabus for the different classes for the 2024–2025 academic year has been made available by the Rajasthan Board of Secondary Education (RBSE), often known as the Rajasthan Board. The Board’s official website, rajeduboard.rajasthan.gov.in, has the syllabus available. The syllabus for the English compulsory course for class eleven is available here. 

The RBSE Class 11 English Compulsory Syllabus is divided into four areas:

  • Reading (20 Marks)
  • Writing (18 Marks)
  • Grammar (16 Marks)
  • Textual Questions (46 Marks) – Based on prescribed textbooks Hornbill

Reading (20 Marks)

  • Master unseen passages, Prepare to tackle two passages (around 350 words combined) testing your comprehension, interpretation, and vocabulary.
    • Passage 1: Focuses on factual, descriptive, or literary content.
    • Passage 2: Analyzes case-based scenarios with visual aids like charts or diagrams.

Writing (18 Marks)

Grammar (16 Marks)

  • Solidify your grammar foundation. This section tests your understanding of:
    • Determiners (e.g., a, an, the, some)
    • Verb Tenses (e.g., present, past, future)
    • Modal Verbs (e.g., can, may, should)
    • Prepositions (expressing location, time, movement, etc.)

RBSE Class 11 English Compulsory Syllabus Textual Questions (46 Marks)

  • Deepen your understanding of prescribed texts. Prepare for questions based on:
    • Hornbill (Prose):
      • Analyze one out of two prose extracts (Very Short Answer)
      • Answer three out of four Short Answer questions (20-30 words)
      • Tackle two Long Answer questions (around 60 words) with an option to choose
    • Hornbill (Poetry):
      • Analyze the context of one out of two poems
      • Answer two out of three Short Answer questions (20-30 words)
      • Choose one out of two Long Answer questions (around 60 words)
    • Supplementary Reader
      • Evaluate characters, events, or episodes in one out of two questions (around 60 words)
      • Answer three out of four Short Answer questions (20-30 words) on content
      • Test your comprehension with four Multiple Choice questions
