Counselling for NEET-UG to Begin After July 3rd Week

NEET-UG Counselling

Over 23 lakh students who took the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Undergraduates (NEET-UG) can expect counselling to begin in the late third week of July. The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) will announce the official NEET-UG counselling schedule on its website.

The clarification regarding the counselling schedule came after allegations of a delay. The government clarified that since the NEET seat matrix, which provides crucial information about state-wise distribution of seats and cut-off scores, is yet to be finalized, there was no deferment. The National Medical Commission (NMC) is expected to finalize the seat matrix by the third week of July.

Last year, NEET-UG counselling began on July 20. The announcement of the NEET-UG counseling schedule starts with the completion of the examination process and finalization of the seat matrix.

NEET-UG 2024 Controversy

Allegations of paper leak in this year’s NEET-UG exam created a stir. In response, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) launched an investigation and has already made arrests. The Supreme Court is also hearing multiple petitions related to the exam, including those seeking cancellation and a court-monitored probe. The Supreme Court will hear the next round of arguments on Monday. The pendency of the court case might be a reason behind the delay in announcing the counselling schedule.
