A Bengaluru couple’s excitement over their new Xbox controller became heartbreaking when they found a poisonous cobra in an Amazon package. The software engineer couple ordered the controller online and received the spectacled cobra upon opening the package delivered straight to their door.
Fortunately, the snake stuck to the packaging tape, causing no harm. Shocked but safe, the couple recorded the entire incident with photographs and videos in the presence of eyewitnesses.
While Amazon issued a full refund, the couple expressed dissatisfaction with the company’s response. They criticized the long wait time for customer support and the lack of proper apology or compensation for the life-threatening situation. They argued that the incident pointed to a lapse in safety protocols during storage or transportation, raising concerns about hygiene and supervision within Amazon’s facilities.

The couple questioned Amazon’s accountability: “This is a security breach. Where is the accountability for such a serious lapse?” However, Amazon only offered a general apology via tweet, requesting more information and promising updates. The couple considered this response inadequate and stressed the need for a formal apology and appropriate compensation beyond a mere refund.
The snake was eventually released safely, but the couple’s ordeal highlights the importance of robust safety measures within e-commerce delivery chains.
