Birla Institute of Technology & Science (BITS) Pilani has invited applications from industry professionals to join the institute as Professor of Practice (PoP). The program is directed towards narrowing the gap between academia and real-world industry experience for students.

Primary Responsibilities for Professors of Practice

  • Develop New Courses/Programs: Work to develop courses and programs that meet the needs of the industry.
  • Research and Innovation: Encourage applied research & innovations resulting in publications, and patents.
  • Engaging students — advise and guide students, encouraging active learning and innovation.
  • INDUSTRY PARTNERSHIPS: Develop and maintain relationships with industry, government, and other stakeholders.
  • Entrepreneurship and Startups: Promote, and enable entrepreneurship and startup projects.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Work Experience: A Master’s degree in fields like engineering, science, humanities and other fields may require significant work experience.
  • Leadership: Leadership positions (e.g., CEO, CTO, VP/Principal Scientist/Senior Research Scientist) are a plus.
  • Premium Entrepreneurship: Also falls under premium entrepreneurship for those who have excellent entrepreneurial accomplishments.
  • A PhD is advantageous, though not mandatory.

Compensation: Professors of Practice will also receive competitive pay equivalent to their experience and knowledge.
