The Union Education Ministry has introduced guidelines for bagless days for students in classes 6 to 8. This move aims to create a joyful and stress-free learning environment.

The guidelines, developed by the NCERT, align with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. The policy recommends a 10-days bagless period for students for classes 6-8.

  • Students will engage in practical activities like carpentry, gardening, and pottery.
  • These activities will help students explore different career paths.
  • Students will intern with local experts to gain practical knowledge.
  • Schools can choose when to conduct bagless days, but two or three slots are recommended.
  • The guidelines suggest various activities like market visits, charity work, and nature exploration.

The Ministry also launched other initiatives to support NEP implementation. Including dedicated language channels, career guidance guidelines, and teacher training programs.

“The four-year journey of NEP, 2020, has been about bringing in transformative change in the country’s education system for nurturing a new generation of learners. NEP, 2020, stands as a symbol of hope for transforming the learning landscape, harnessing the country’s demographic dividend, empowering the population, and driving socio-economic development,” Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said in a message.

“Implementation of NEP has made learning more vibrant and guided in making the country’s education more futuristic, rooted, global, and outcome-oriented,” he added.

The Akhil Bharatiya Siksha Samagam will serve as a platform to promote NEP implementation and collaboration among stakeholders.
