After already layoffs of 11000 employees in 2022 and 10000 employees in 2023, Meta has announced that it is cutting jobs again. The exact number of people losing their jobs is not known. Meta has announced layoffs affecting teams in various parts of the business, including WhatsApp, Instagram, Threads, and other Meta divisions.
A Meta worker named Jane Manchun Wong used Threads to talk about her experience of losing her job. She said thank you for her time at Meta and offered to work for other companies in software and security engineering.
In a statement to The Verge, a Meta spokesperson said they are laying off people. They explained that Meta is changing its teams to match its long-term goals. This means moving some teams to new places and giving employees new jobs. Meta is trying to find new jobs for the people who lost theirs.
