In a heartwarming display of his unwavering love for animals, billionaire Ratan Tata once ditched a meeting with the UK’s King Charles III to stay by the side of his ailing dog.
The incident, as recounted by Indian businessman Suhel Seth, occurred in 2018 when Prince Charles, now King Charles III, had organized an event to honor Tata’s exceptional philanthropic work. Ratan Tata had initially agreed to attend the ceremony at Buckingham Palace to receive a lifetime achievement award from the British Asian Trust.
Just days before the event, Tata canceled his travel plans after one of his dogs, Tango or Tito, fell gravely ill. Despite efforts by Seth to convince Tata to attend the royal event. The industrialist remained steadfast in his decision to stay with his furry companion.
When Prince Charles learned of Ratan Tata’s absence, he reportedly expressed admiration for the businessman’s unwavering priorities and ideals. “He’s a man, that’s Ratan Tata for sure. That’s the foundation of the Tata house’s strength, the reason it’s on such a stable course,” Seth recalled the royal’s words.
Tata’s dedication to his pets reflects his deep love and compassion for animals. Which is also evident in his philanthropic work. The Tata Trusts’ upcoming Small Animal Hospital in Mumbai is a testament to Tata’s commitment to animal welfare.
