India’s New Head Coach – Gautam Gambhir, BCCI accepts all the demands of KKR Mentor

As per the news Gautam Gambhir – the KKR mentor will replace Rahul Dravid as the Indian cricket team’s new head coach. After the T20 World Cup 2024 the tenure of Rahul Dravid as head coach came to an end. Rahul Dravid is not interested in renewing his contract so BCCI is looking for a new head coach. Reports say it’s confirmed that Gambhir the hero of the 2011 world final and KKR mentor will coach the Indian team. The official announcement will be made by the BCCI after the T20 World Cup.

As per Dainik Jagran’s report, the exact date of the appointment of Gambhir as coach will depend on the performance of India in this World Cup. Gambhir is allowed to choose his support staff and we may see some changes in fielding and batting coach.

Experience of India’s New Head Coach Gautam Gambhir

As a player, Gautam has won two World Cups 2007 T20, and the 2011 day World Cup and 2 IPL trophies. In both World Cup finals, he gave amazing performances which led India to victory. He played 58 tests and scored 4154 runs with an average of 42.0, 147 ODIs scored 5238 runs. Also played 154 IPL matches and scored 3404 runs with a 27.4 average. Gautam Gambhir scored 20 international centuries in his career.

As a mentor of Lucknow Super Giants, his tenure was amazing. LSG managed to make off in the playoffs both years. In 2024 he became the mentor of KKR and led them to win their third IPL title. But if he becomes the head coach of India he needs to leave KKR as per the BCCI rules.
