The Khatu Shyam Temple, located in the Sikar district, is temporarily closure. This closure allows for the traditional ’tilak shringar’ ceremony of Baba Shyam. Devotees will not have darshan for a short period. The temple will close at 10 PM on July 25 after the shayan aarti (bedtime prayer). It will reopen at 5 PM on July 26 with the sandhya aarti (evening prayer). During this time, general darshan will not be permitted.
The Shri Shyam Mandir Committee explained this closure. This is a regular annual religious process. Baba Shyam receives a bath with five sacred liquids, called panchadravya. He is then adorned with special decorations. This ritual typically takes 8 to 12 hours to complete. The committee advises devotees to plan their visits considering this duration.
Committee Explains Decision
Committee minister Manvendra Singh Chouhan confirmed the decision. He stated that this action upholds tradition and the method of worship. The advance notice helps avoid any confusion for visitors. He added that the brief wait, undertaken with devotion, strengthens the bond between devotees and the deity.

Baba Shyam: A Symbol of Faith
Followers know Baba Shyam as the “support of the helpless.” He also presides over the Kali Yuga. His story connects to the Mahabharata era. Barbarik, Bhima’s grandson, offered his head to Lord Krishna before the war. Lord Krishna blessed him for this sacrifice. He declared that people would worship Barbarik as Shyam in the Kali Yuga. He would provide support to his devotees in all difficulties.
Lakhs of devotees visit Baba Shyam’s court even today. They come with immense faith and belief. The temple committee requests that all devotees respect this tradition. They ask devotees to visit only after the temple doors have reopened.
