Govats Dwadashi is an important festival in Hinduism dedicated to the worship of cows. On this day, cows are considered a form of Goddess Lakshmi, and worshipping them brings prosperity and happiness. Govatsa Dwadashi is celebrated the day before Dhanteras. 12th day of the Shukla Paksha (bright fortnight) of the Hindu month of Magha. It is also known as Govardhan Puja or Gokulashtami. Hurting cows: In the country, hurting a cow is considered to be one of the greatest sins that you do and so is Govats Dwadashi. It is alleged that on this day, we should not kill or beat any cow forcefully, We must properly do feed them. Cows are to be taken care of and loved.
Non-veg food: Eating non-vegetarian on Govats Dwadashi is strictly forbidden. The cow is a mother and it is considered a sin to eat meat on this day in the name of giving status.
Impure food: Pure and satvik food should be eaten on Govats Dwadashi. Impure food such as meat and fish eggs/meat are not allowed.
Lying: Lying is prohibited on Govats Dwadashi. One should speak the truth on this day and maintain harmony with others.
Getting angry: Getting angry and quarreling with someone is prohibited on Govats Dwadashi. One should keep the mind calm on this day and be compassionate towards others.
