Women Empowerment: Pros and Cons

Women Empowerment

There are a lot of problems faced by women in this world, who make up almost half the population of this planet. As with its population, India is no exception. A number of initiatives have been taken in recent years by some states to address the role of women in Indian society despite these disadvantages. Since Indira Gandhi became the first female Prime Minister of the country and worked for the upliftment of women.  Inequalities are not limited to individual women; They impact the entire society.

  • Only 1% of the current global female population lives in countries with high empowerment and low gender gaps.
  • Women achieve 72% of what men achieve based on various aspects of human development with a 28 % gender gap.
  • The percentage of women who owned a house or land — whether jointly or single — was 43.3% in the latest (2019-21) rounds, up from 38.4% in the 2015-16 round.
  • Only 20% of women in India are part of the labor force, compared to males at 50.6%, this shows that many employees are skewed towards men and there is a very large employment gender disparity in our country.
  • This is a significant increase from previous years when it was 78.9 percent of married Indian women participated in household decisions.

Women Empowerment

Empowerment of women means to provide the rights for equal opportunities as men. It means they are the ones who can decide and that they have a voice, and seek their dreams without being tied down by their sex. Empowerment for women intends to make a world where everyone is equally important.
