In the first enforcement under the newly passed Waqf (Amendment) Act, 2025, an ill€gally constructed madrasa in Panna’s BD Colony was voluntarily demolition by its operators. The structure had reportedly been functioning for nearly 30 years on government land without authorization.

Local residents and social activists had long raised concerns over the Waqf Amendment Act Madrasa demolition, citing unauthorized construction and suspicious activities. Despite repeated complaints, no significant action was taken until the new legislative framework came into effect.

Following the implementation of the Waqf (Amendment) Act, authorities issued notices to the madrasa management. In response, the operators chose to dismantle the structure themselves, avoiding potential legal consequences.

BJP state president and Khajuraho MP VD Sharma stated that the complaint was initially filed by a member of the Muslim community. He emphasized that the law applies equally to all and is focused on curbing illegal encroachments on government land.

This marks the first such action under the amended Waqf Act. Officials indicated that similar enforcement may follow across the state to ensure compliance with the law.
