Wisconsin School Shooting: Biden Demands Action on Gun Control

A horrific school shooting at Abundant Life Christian School in Madison, Wisconsin, has left two people dead and six injured. The incident, which occurred on December 16, 2024, has reignited the debate on gun control in the United States.  

  • The deceased include a teacher and a teenage student. The shooter, believed to be a student, was also found dead at the scene.  
  • Police responded to the active shooter situation within four minutes and no officers discharged their weapons.  

President Joe Biden expressed his grief and condemned the attack. He called the shooting “shocking and unconscionable” and urged Congress to take immediate action on gun safety legislation.  

  • The President highlighted the need to protect children from gun violence, emphasizing, “Students should be learning to read, write, not to duck and cover.”  
  • Biden stressed the importance of stricter gun control laws, including universal background checks, a national red flag law, and a ban on assault weapons and high-capacity magazines.  

This tragedy marks yet another instance of gun violence plaguing American schools, joining the long list of mass shootings that have occurred in Newtown, Uvalde, and Parkland. President Biden remains committed to combating gun violence through executive actions and legislation.
