A 24-year-old man from Fatehpur district of Uttar Pradesh had a terrifying experience – he was bitten by snakes not once, but six times in a month!
Vikas Dubey’s ordeal began on June 2nd when a snake bit him as he got out of bed. He was rushed to a nearby hospital and recovered after treatment. However, this wasn’t the end of his troubles.
Dubey suffered snake bites five more times between June 2nd and July 6th. Each time, he received medical attention and fortunately made a full recovery. Interestingly, Dubey reported that all the bites occurred on weekends – Saturdays or Sundays. He even claimed to have a premonition before each encounter.
Snake bites are a serious public health concern globally. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), there are around 5.4 million snakebite incidents worldwide every year. Of these, 1.8 to 2.7 million people experience snake envenoming – poisoning caused by snake venom. Tragically, snake bites result in 81,000 to 130,000 deaths annually, with even more amputations and permanent disabilities.
