The Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) aims to provide affordable housing to the economically weaker sections. The government scheme offers financial help to build homes for those who do not own a permanent house. Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), and families below the poverty line can benefit from subsidised housing in both cities and villages.
The application deadline for PMAY has been extended until December 2025 for both urban and rural applicants. According to official PMAY website data, over 92.61 lakh houses have been completed under this scheme.
