Amazing news is coming for the cabinet as the 8th pay commission is officially approved. On Thursday 16, January 2025 Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi led the cabinet and approved the constitution of the 8th pay. All the central government is now looking for a hike they will get after the 8th pay commission. Minister of Informaiton and Broadcasting Ashwini Vaishnaw said that soon they will appoint the chairman and two members for the 8th Pay Commission committee.
Also, he mentioned that the 7th pay was implemented in 2016 and is valid until 2026. The government now approves the constitution of the 8th pay so that things can be done and implemented on time.
What is exciting about the 8th pay commission?
As per the government record, more than 1 crore employees will benefit from this. The pensioners eagerly waiting for the new pay commission to be implemented as it will increase their pension too. The implementation of the Seventh Pay Commission led to substantial modifications in salary structures, allowances and pensions for central government employees, ensuring equitable compensation for both serving staff and retired personnel.

Hike employees can expect
- As per the information, the government may apply the fitment factor 2.86 for the new pay commission.
- The minimum basic salary for central government employees is expected to jump from 51,480 to 18000.
- Salary hike after 8th pay commission will be – fitment factor * basic salary. If the base salary is 10000 then hiked salary after will be – 10000*2.86 = 28,600.
- Pension for the central government employee will jump from 9000 to 25740.
- As of now, employees can expect that new pay commission will be applicable from January 01, 2026.
