This festival is celebrated with great enthusiasm every year on the first day of the bright half of the Kartik month. On the day of Govardhan Puja, a mountain is made from cow dung and worshipped. Additionally, Lord Krishna is worshipped on this day, and a special offering called Annakoot is made to him. Keep these things in mind during Govardhan Puja 2024

Avoid looking at the moon

In villages, Govardhan Puja is celebrated similarly to Diwali. It’s a five-day festival called Deepotsav. Seeing the moon on this day is thought to be unlucky.

Don’t hurt cows

During Govardhan Puja, there’s a tradition of worshiping the mother cow. So, don’t harm cows or any animals on this day.

Don’t do Govardhan Puja indoors

Govardhan Puja or Annakoot should always be done in the courtyard, terrace, balcony, or outside. It’s believed that worshiping inside a closed room isn’t accepted by God.

Don’t wear black or dirty clothes

Wearing dirty or black clothes while worshiping on Govardhan Puja is considered very unlucky. You won’t get the benefits of the worship if you do this.

Do not worship alone

A woman shouldn’t do Govardhan Puja by herself. Worshiping alone on this day is thought to be unlucky. So, make the Govardhan mountain with your family or other women in your area, and then worship together.

Do not leave the circumambulation incomplete

There are seven special walks around the Govardhan mountain on Puja day. But don’t stop the walk around for any reason. Also, remember to walk around without shoes.
