A major update is the common cutoff for all NMIMS MBA programs (excluding MBA Pharmaceutical Management) across all campuses, which stands at 209. The sectional cutoff is 62 for these programs. For the MBA in Pharmaceutical Management, the cutoff is 190, with a sectional cutoff of 50.
Selection Criteria
The NMIMS selection process now gives less weight to NMAT scores. Instead, it places a higher emphasis on other components to create a composite score. The breakdown is as follows:
- NMAT by GMAC: 20%
- Competency Assessment Test: 50%
- AI-based Personal Interview: 10%
- Work Experience: 10%
- Past Academics: 10% (5% for 12th grade, 5% for graduation)
- Total: 100%
The Competency Assessment Test
The Competency Assessment Test is a new, crucial part of the selection process. It is a computer-based test with three sections and a total of 20 questions. The sections are:
- Verbal Ability: 9 questions
- Mental Ability: 6 questions
- Managerial Ability: 5 questions

This test helps evaluate critical thinking, problem-solving, and managerial skills. The questions are multiple-choice, with 3 marks for a correct answer and a negative mark of 1 for a wrong one. The test duration is 45 minutes, with navigation allowed between sections. This new structure shows that NMIMS now focuses on a candidate’s overall potential and skills, beyond just their NMAT score.
