A recent study from HirePro, a company that uses AI to help with hiring, shows that most students and businesses prefer an ideal internship duration that lasts 4-6 months. This time frame is thought to be best because it gives enough time to learn while also letting companies judge a person’s skills well.
The study talked to more than 20,000 students, 350 schools, and 200 businesses. It found:
- Students, schools, and businesses—an ideal internship duration that is 4-6 months long.
- Students see internships as a chance to get real-world experience and learn from people who know their jobs well.
- Businesses use internships to see if someone has potential and can learn and adapt quickly.
- Colleges want longer internships (10-12 months) to make sure students are fully prepared for the job market.

The research also showed that there is a rising need for remote internship opportunities. While 79% of students are willing to do remote internships. Only 71% of companies feel comfortable with them because they worry about how to supervise and train interns remotely.
- Students are most interested in internships that offer flexibility and fair pay.
- The expected monthly pay for full-time internships is between Rs 15,000 and Rs 40,000.
- There is a big difference in opinion between students, companies, and schools about remote and flexible internship options.
As the job market gets more competitive, internships give students important chances to gain experience and make connections. This study shows how important internships are for helping students get ready for the workforce and for companies to find talented people.
