IIT-Madras Zanzibar is now offering a new M.Tech program in Ocean Structures for the 2024-25 academic year. This specialized program caters to students interested in careers related to maritime engineering and offshore construction.
The program offers two streams:
- Offshore and Ship Structures
- Port Harbour and Coastal Structures
Students’ CGPA at the end of the first semester will determine their chosen stream.
M.Tech in Ocean Structures
- Covers core subjects like marine hydrodynamics and structural design for offshore platforms and ports.
- Equips graduates for careers in oil and gas exploration, port development, and the maritime sector.
- Focuses on the growing “blue economy” in Zanzibar, creating skilled professionals in this field.
Eligibility and Admissions
- Applicants must hold a four-year undergraduate degree in civil engineering with at least 60% marks.
- Applications are open until June 20, 2024.
