QS World University Ranking 2025: IIT Bombay Among World’s Top 150

Indian higher education is on the rise! The QS World University Ranking 2025 bring positive news for India, with a significant portion (61%) of Indian universities climbing the ranks this year.

The Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT Bombay) is the undisputed leader among Indian institutes. IIT Bombay achieved a remarkable feat, jumping 31 places to a commendable 118th position globally. This achievement places IIT Bombay at the forefront of Indian education on the world stage.

Other Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) also saw significant improvements. IIT Delhi moved up an impressive 47 places to 150th position, while IIT Kharagpur moved up 49 places to 222nd position. IIT Madras also did not lag and jumped 58 places to reach 227th position.

The University of Delhi (DU) deserves special recognition for its progress. DU soared 79 places to land at 328th globally, solidifying its position as a leading Indian university. IIT Roorkee and IIT Guwahati also made significant strides, reaching 344th and 383rd positions, respectively.

On the global stage, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) retained its top ranking for the 13th consecutive year. The United Kingdom’s Imperial College London secured the second spot, while Harvard University and the University of Oxford shared the third position.
